Actually, since I'm Canadian, it's a kilometre-stone. I bicycle to work several times per week, and this week my odometer rolled past the 2,000 km mark! It's a fourteen kilometre round trip to work, so that's a lot of trips back and forth.
When you sit in front of a computer all day (and eat as much chocolate as I do) you'd better structure some exercise into your routine.
My abs are just as taut as my legs, but you can't tell because of the excess insulation that spoils the visuals. I'd publish a photo, but you wouldn't thank me for it.

Congratulations, and mmmmmm.
I remember when Mr A used to cycle 9 miles each way to work. Good for him, and lovely for me;-)
Personally I'm a terricle cyclist (it hurts parts of me I rarely remember having), so a couple of miles to the pool or college every now and then is enough to make me feel conscientious, although it doesn't give me noticable muscles:-(
Thanks, you two. What's the emoticon for, I'm blushing?

Hi Q...I've decided to advertize your very shapely calves over in my territory...
as the old saying goes...if you've got it flaunt it..

You and I share the same exercise regimen, at least around the abdomen. ;)
Heather, that is too funny. I'm glad you appreciated the question I asked on your blog.
Jack:
How does that Japanese guy eat dozens of hotdogs but stay so thin?

I wish I could bike to work. It's impossible here. We Americans have built most of our communities on the assumption that everyone will drive everywhere. It's very frustrating. No wonder we have so many couch potatoes!

You raise a good point. Urban planners can make it possible or impossible. Ottawa is relatively cyclist-friendly:
Ottawa is a great city for cyclists. There are over 170 kilometres of bike paths in the city, many of them along our scenic rivers and canals. It's also easy to cycle on the roads — with many major routes featuring special bike lanes to make commuting easy. A recent report shows that Ottawa has more bicycle commuters than any other city in North America.
Of course, we also have damned near six months of winter, which keeps most cyclists (not all) off the roads!
I'm also fortunate enough to live only a 20-25 minute ride from work. Ottawa is a sprawling city. If I lived in the suburbs, it would be too far to ride.
